Future Islands---release update

Hi Folks,

News for you all...we are going to split up the work with Altin Village from Dresden, Germany and put out the Future Islands "Wave Like Home" on vinyl.

Hi,

I never had the uber-fan-love thing, not sure why. I like to keep things between me and my record player. I am not going to seek out my rock gods or favorite actors. However after watching Kimya perform yet another show, up close, and see how her fans react to her I might have swayed for a moment.

I wonder if I might have had some of that this weekend. I witnessed so much affection, respect and laughter at her show. I watched her ask Alex to sing with her while everyone clapped along, 20 plus people busted up on stage to sing a song from Annie and as I witnessed at the Midtown Dickens show (May 2007) a human-hug-circle took place at the end of the night. Alex and I were the tail end.

Thanks to all the staff at the Black Cat, the fans, the parents who drove and bought a ticket to stay with their 13 year olds, the 6 and a 3/4 year old who got her record signed, the two boys who stood quietly/patiently waiting for her to take a photo with them and smiled so huge when she did. The girls who handed me their shoes to be signed with a Kimya branded...P.U.! To Jeff who was wonderful, funny and well gave us a quick lesson about The Watchmen..what a treat.

Last thanks to Kimya and Alex who gave me a night I will never ever forget.

We are headed to DC to catch Kimya Dawson and Jeff Lewis at the Black Cat. I will also get to meet my new niece Piper. I am an Aunt, how cool. We plan on staying until Sunday-ish then heading back to catch the last night of the Future Islands three day NC stomp. They are in Raleigh tonight, Greenville tomorrow and Chapel Hill Sunday night. That gives you two more night to catch them or if you run you can see them tonight too!

Tuesday we head to Wiston-Salem to hang with Jews and Catholics and chat about their up coming record. Exciting.

March 28th we take over the Duke Coffee House again with

April is right around the corner so we will host another salon...maybe my new fav Birds and Arrows?

In May we turn 5 (FIVE)! Five years old! We plan on hosting some type of bash....details to come.
